Tuesday morning. We reach Montange, 140K from the start and our first checkpoint. Max, Glen and I have separated from Dustin, Justin, Joel, Chris and Chip. They show up a few minutes later. We fill water bottles, change batteries and agree to wait until the next checkpoint for a meal. It's been slow going in the rain. We anticipated being here an hour or so ago. The descent out of here is long and steep and chills us to the bone.
